Terry Backs Mount To Be Future Chelsea And England Captain

Former England and Chelsea captain John Terry has showered praise on youngster Mason Mount, insisting his compatriot could follow his footsteps by wearing the armband for both the Three Lions and the Blues someday.

Terry believes Mount is the best player at Stamford Bridge this season and is convinced the 22-year-old has the qualities to be a leader.

Mount is in his second season in the first team but has already proved himself as one of the best players in the West Londoners’ setup by putting in good performances in almost every game.

The former Derby County midfielder received a lot of criticisms from fans and the media as most thought he was favoured by former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, but Mount has started in three of the first four games under new coach Thomas Tuchel.

“Mason Mount is 100 per cent future Chelsea captain,” Terry said on Instagram Live.

“He’s been the best player at Chelsea this season to be honest.”

“He’s a great lad, trains unbelievably well, is Chelsea through and through and shows leadership qualities.”

“In my mind he’ll be Chelsea and England captain.”

Terry also hailed two English players, who are taking the Premier League by storm this season.

“When you talk about Phil Foden and Jack, they’re the two best young players in the world at the minute and we’re lucky they’re both English,” he continued.

“He’s 20-years-old and producing great skill and quality in a top side.”
